Easy to Teach Line Dance Routines

Shares

Line dances are very simple dance routines to teach and everybody can take part, regardless of whether they have a dance partner (or, for that matter, any dancing ability!).

You can continue to call the moves as you do the dance, or you can teach the dance routine before putting it to music.

These routines work well with any song with a regular 4:4 beat... Or pretty much any country song 😛 If you want to add a couple of extra dances to your class, then you could always throw in the Cha Cha Slide or YMCA - everyone knows the moves to these songs so they can work well as warm-ups to build people's confidence.

Electric Slide - a nice and simple warm up dance

1, 2, 3, 4: Grapevine to the right *clap*

5, 6, 7, 8: Grapevine to the left *clap*

1, 2, 3, 4: Step back, 2, 3, 4 (right leg first)

5, 6, 7, 8: Left foot forward, back, forward, turn (over left shoulder)

Repeat

Cupid Shuffle - the dance tells you what to do in the chorus

1, 2, 3, 4: Step right, 2, 3, 4 (To the right, to the right, to the right, to the right)

5, 6, 7, 8: Step left, 2, 3, 4 (To the left, to the left, to the left, to the left)

1, 2, 3, 4: Kick, 2, 3, 4, (Right leg first) (Now kick, and kick, and kick, and kick)

5, 6, 7, 8: Twist and turn (over left shoulder) (Now walking by yourself, walking by yourself)

Repeat

Any Song - fun and easy to follow

1, 2, 3, 4: Step right, step left, step right, step left

5, 6, 7, 8: Right heel to the side (hold), right toe to the back (hold)

1, 2, 3, 4: Right foot forward, back, forward, back

5, 6, 7, 8: Walk forward 2, 3, 4

1, 2, 3, 4: Walk back 2, 3, 4

5, 6, 7, 8: Turn 45degrees and walk forward 2, 3, 4
