This weekend is Valentine's Day (Sunday, 14th February), so you may be expecting a larger number of couples taking a weekend away.

Of course, you won't want to get in the way of their romantic dinner, but mid-afternoon or later in the evening are perfect opportunities to bring people together for a fun couples gameshow.

Here are three easy-to-prepare Valentine's Day Game Shows:

Relationship Predictions... (Best for young couples)

What You'll Need:

  • Microphone
  • Watch/Stopwatch
  • Scoresheet and Pen
  • Prediction sheets/mini white boards and pens/markers
  • 3-5 couples (your contestants)
  • Swimming Pool and/or buckets of cold water/gunge.
  • Prizes (optional)

How the Game Works:

  • The couples are given challenges. One partner has to secretly predict how the other will perform in each challenge (by writing their prediction on paper and sealing it in an envelope). At the end of the challenge, the predictions are announced and the actual scores revealed. The couple who was furthest away from the prediction is eliminated, either by being pushed into the pool, or by having a bucket of water/gunge thrown over them.

Suggestions for Challenges

  • How many press-ups do you think your partner can do in 60 seconds?
  • How long do you think it will take your partner to say the alphabet backwards without mistakes?
  • How many sports teams do you think your partner can name in 60 seconds?
  • How many general knowledge questions do you think your partner will get right in 60 seconds?
  • How many birthdays do you think your partner remembers from your side of the family?
  • In how many languages do you think your partner can say 'I Love You'?

Variations

  • As a drinking game - in your hotel bar. Include all the couples in the bar as contestants. Give the whole room the challenge and tell couples to drink if they predicted wrong.
  • In a lounge - instead of eliminating couples, allow each couple to continue through each challenge. One couple can be crowned victorious at the end of all of your challenges.

How Well Do You Know Your Partner? (Best for older couples)

What You'll Need:

  • Microphone
  • Assistant with Scoresheet and Pen
  • Chairs for couples
  • 3 couples (your contestants)
  • Prizes (optional)

How the Game Works:

  • The couples are introduced and then the ladies are sent out of the room. Whilst the ladies are gone, the husbands are asked 3 questions. When the ladies are brought back in, they are asked the same questions and win points for a matching answer. The men then leave the room and the ladies are then asked 3 questions, which the men will have to guess the answers to when they return.
